BUILDING ENERGY ENGINEER II

Energetics is seeking a Building Energy Engineer to join our staff and support clients with energy management, project planning, analysis, and ESG compliance services. Main responsibilities will focus on identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements in multifamily, commercial, and industrial facilities to reduce operation costs and comply with the Energize Denver and Colorado Building Performance Standard ordinances. Top candidates will have a strong foundation of technical expertise, be well organized, possess superior communication abilities, and are driven to exceed customer expectations. QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • EIT or PE (preferred)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) with the Association of Energy Engineers is preferred, or the ability to gain these certifications within the first year of employment
  • Working knowledge of building science
  • Experience in consulting and collaborating with internal and external teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, track multiple deadlines, collaborate with team members, and solve problems
  • 2-5 years’ experience in energy engineering, auditing, analysis, or related energy efficiency industry experience.

SKILLS & DUTIES

  • Working knowledge of building system operation including central and unitary heating and cooling, DHW, lighting, controls, and envelope
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level II building energy audits
  • Identify and analyze building energy efficiency measures
  • Create Energy Star Portfolio Manager accounts for benchmarking and report generation
  • Perform utility and operational energy savings cost analysis
  • Develop multiyear energy plans to retrofit or replace existing equipment and systems
  • Manage a building portfolio compliance schedule, identify pathways to meet target energy and GHG emission levels, and develop energy efficiency strategies
  • Consult with clients on building performance standards and applicable actions to upgrade buildings systems and mitigate compliance penalty exposure
  • Understand utility offered services and billing components
  • Assist other team members to develop energy efficiency plans after performing field audits
  • Perform daily project management tasks
  • Assist with data collection, organization and setup for building energy modeling, and coordinate with energy modelers to perform analysis (potential to learn this field as well for the right candidate)
  • Knowledge and implementation of Lean business practices and methods
