Energetics is proud to have served as the energy consultant for Krisana Apartments, a newly completed, fully electric affordable housing development in southeast Denver. Led by Pinkard Construction and developed in partnership with Kentro Group, @LextonMcDermott, and @LewisHimesArchitects, the 151-unit project exemplifies the alignment of sustainable design, affordability, and community impact.
Last week, the project was celebrated with a Grand Opening event attended by Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, City Councilman Paul Kashmann, and many of our project partners—marking a milestone for equitable and energy-forward housing in the Denver Metro area.
From an energy standpoint, Krisana Apartments sets a strong precedent for future affordable housing in Denver:
• All-electric design: Thanks to funding from the City and County of Denver’s New Building Electrification Pilot Program, a part of the Energize Denver Electrification Program, the entire building operates without natural gas—supporting the City’s climate goals and improving indoor air quality for residents.
• ENERGY STAR-rated appliances and high-efficiency systems: These features support lower utility bills for residents and help meet IECC and green building performance targets.
• Energy modeling and compliance: Energetics provided whole-building energy modeling, IECC compliance analysis, and guided the project team in integrating energy-efficient strategies to ensure long-term performance, comfort, and cost savings.
Krisana consists of 21 studio, 71 one-bedroom, and 59 two-bedroom units, reserved for residents earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income. Alongside its efficiency and performance features, it includes central air conditioning, a fitness center, secure bike storage, and other community-focused amenities.
Energetics is proud to support teams like Pinkard and its development partners in designing buildings that are not only affordable but also ready for a cleaner energy future. Krisana Apartments stands as a successful model of how affordable housing and sustainable design can work hand in hand to serve both people and the planet.
