SUSTAINABILITY ANALYST I / FIELD ASSISTANT

We are seeking a Sustainability Analyst / Field Assistant to join our Sustainability Team.  This is an entry level position with excellent growth opportunity.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for all aspects of sustainability and green building with a foundation in building design and construction, and will also be exposed to aspects of sustainable design practices, building energy analysis, modeling, and reporting.   The successful candidate is fundamentally committed to helping our clients succeed by anticipating potential frustration points and providing proactive communication and solutions.

This position will be 50% desk work and 50% field work.  Top candidates will have a strong foundation of technical expertise, be well organized, possess superior communication abilities, and are driven to exceed customer expectations.

SALARY RANGE:  $60,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year degree in a Sustainability or Construction-focused field (or equivalent)
  • Experience in residential and commercial sustainability consulting and/or construction
  • Physical ability to lift and carry 50 lbs for 100 feet unassisted
  • Ability to climb ladders and work outdoors on construction sites (safety equipment will be provided)
  • Candidate must be a licensed driver with a clean driving record and their own vehicle to transport equipment
  • The candidate should have or be on a path to pursue the following certifications:
    • RESNET HERS Rater/Rating Field Inspector
    • IECC Residential Inspector
    • IECC Commercial Plans Examiner & Inspector
    • NGBS Verifier 2015+2020
    • LEED-H AP & Green Rater
    • Energy Star SFNH and MFNC

SKILLS & DUTIES

  • Work with Project Managers to perform design reviews, inspections, and testing for green building certifications and air barrier compliance
  • Coordinate with PMs to organize project schedule, deliverables, and due dates
  • Assist with residential and commercial building inspections for code compliance and energy efficient construction features including framing, insulation, air barrier, and HVAC
  • Assist with diagnostic testing for unitary and whole-building air leakage and duct leakage to calculate energy efficiency performance
  • Communicate directly with contractors and trades to help them meet their energy efficiency and sustainability goals
  • Provide QAQC of design close-out for projects transitioning from the design phase to construction, with PM assistance
  • Perform  visual inspections, diagnostic testing, collecting field data and verification, with PM assistance
  • Conduct trades training with GC & subcontractors, with PM assistance
  • Compile and organize submission material for project certification
  • Actively pursue relevant certifications to support their role
  • Completing objectives may include travel (with some occasional out of state travel required)
