BUILDING ENERGY ENGINEER I

Energetics is seeking a Building Energy Engineer to join our Existing Buildings team and support clients with energy management, project planning, analysis, and ESG compliance services. Main responsibilities will focus on identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements in multifamily, commercial, and industrial facilities to reduce operation costs and comply with the Energize Denver and Colorado Building Performance Standard ordinances. Top candidates will have a strong foundation of technical expertise, be well organized, possess superior communication abilities, and are driven to exceed customer expectations.

SALARY RANGE:  $70,000 to $95,000 depending on experience and qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering discipline. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 2-3 years’ experience performing energy audits and/or energy cost analysis
  • Working knowledge of building system operation including central and unitary heating and cooling, DHW, lighting, controls, and envelope systems
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects, collaborate with team members, and solve problems
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) with the Association of Energy Engineers is preferred, or the ability to gain these certifications within the first year of employment

SKILLS & DUTIES

  • Conduct ASHRAE I and II building energy audits
  • Identify and analyze building energy efficiency measures and perform energy and cost savings analysis
  • Write energy audit reports and develop multiyear plans to meet target energy use and GHG emissions levels
  • Collaborate with team members on continuous process improvement and high quality deliverables to clients
  • Develop energy cost measure calculators based on state and regional Technical Reference Manual analysis
  • Consult with clients on building performance standards and strategies to upgrade building systems and mitigate compliance penalty exposure
  • Manage a building portfolio compliance schedule
  • Create Energy Star Portfolio Manager accounts for benchmarking and report generation
  • Understand utility services and billing components
  • Perform daily project management tasks
  • Assist with data collection, organization and setup for building energy modeling.
